5 Easy Steps to Connecting to Webdav at Login
I have several computers from which I access my online webdav server, where I save documents and other things, that I require to have access to at all times (when I’m online). For some reason I could not get my macs to automatically login to the webdav server when I logged on to the mac. But I found a way, here are the 5 easy steps to make it work.
1. Create a applescript containing
try
mount volume “http://webdav.yourserver.com”
end try
2. Save it
Remember to save it as the filetype application.
3. Test it
By doubleclicking your newly created .app file you should get the login prompt from the webdav server.
4. Automatic login
If you want this, you have to save the username/password in the keychain.
5. Run on startup
Drag the application to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Your Account >> Login Items
Now try and log out, and back in. You should now see your webdav connected and ready to roll.
A Picture of my Son
I know that I have posted a lot the last few weeks. (Escpecially today). And since I have gained a lot of followers lately, I would like to take this opportunity to post a picture of my beautiful son.
Here’s a challenge, look at the picture, and try not to smile.
Why is TV Listings Data Not Freely Available?
For a long time I have thought about several application/service ideas which needs TV listings data in some parseable dataformat (xml format comes to mind). But for some reason there is no free ressource to get these data, not even from the websites of the channels in question. I have found some listings of UK tv – but since I live in Denmark I would at least like the 8 or 9 danish channels to be included as well.
I have found a provider that allows me to get a personal feed for 89,- DKR pr year, which off course sounds cheap, but their terms says that you cannot redistribute the data. They also sell licenses to the data, but I suspect that this would be an expensive option, and my ideas will not be something that could make a lot of money, I think.
It seems weird to me that the data is not freely available. In my opinion it should be in the interest of the danish media providers (DR, TV2, Viasat, TVDanmark) to make it available, since it can help promote their programs, and thus make money on advertising on their tv-channels. Or maybe I have missed something in the equation??
A blog about women and money
One of my former contacts from JCI has created a blog about women and money. At the moment there are only two posts, but if she keeps up the quality she will most surely get a lot of readers. You should definitely read her post about creating a budget.
She has promised me that it is ok for guys to read her blog as well. But be warned – it is in Danish.
